The inaugural Western Australian Annual Bridal Industry Awards has uncovered some spectacular wedding vendors in WA. The Marriage Celebrant category had the highest winning rating which went to Dru Soltys with a rating of 99.34%, followed up by yet another Marriage Celebrant; Nina Guelfi, with a rating of 99.29%.

Other standout performers were The Crystal Chandelier in the category of Wedding Stationery who achieved an ABIA rating of 99.18%.

The night was a jammed packed event full of excitement and exhilaration as the 36 Winners were announced. A big thank you to all the 3,000 plus South Australian brides who were nominated by their suppliers to rate their product, service, value and staff, they made your day special and now you have made them special.

“ABIA was my bible when planning our wedding for the 9th April 2010. We used ABIA to find almost every supplier as we were one of the first of our friends to get married. It was incredibly helpful as we knew we were getting ‘the best’ when booking suppliers recommended by ABIA. As it turns out, all of the suppliers we selected based on their connection with ABIA were perfect, making our wedding day the most incredible day of our lives. It was our fairy tale come true. I certainly let the suppliers and every bride to be I know that I got the details from ABIA! Thank you!” said Kristen.

How I selected ABIA suppliers:
“When we got engaged we started planning immediately. We drew up a list of all the different suppliers/items we required and commenced the research process. The ABIA website made it easy. We looked at the directory, as well as past and present winners of the prestigious awards. We then started to contact/visit the suppliers within each area, locking them away one by one. We were so impressed with how professional and helpful they all were throughout the entire process. We had no dramas and thoroughly enjoyed the entire planning process, stress free. We couldn’t believe that couples didn’t enjoy planning weddings! We loved it! The actual day arrived and we were both completely calm and collected as everything was organised and ready to go. It was a perfect day, nothing went wrong and it was all thanks to our suppliers. They made our fairy tale come true”, said Kristen.

Kristen & Ryans’ Dream Wedding Day:
Kristen and her bridesmaids’ makeup was by Kesty Munoz. “Kesty made us all feel comfortable, natural, beautiful and confident” said Kristen. “She did amazing work! She is a true master of her craft!” The bridal party travelled to the ceremony in style in cars provided by Angel Limousines. “They made us feel so comfortable and relaxed” said Kristen – a must on your wedding day. Angela from the Monash Country Club created the perfect environment for Kristen and Ryan’s ceremony and reception. “She listened to us and made the day run incredibly smoothly” said Kristen. “Our celebrant, Louise Spedding, helped create the greatest memory we will ever have. It was personal and romantic. Penny from Red Poppies was so extremely professional and helpful throughout the entire process and she created the most gorgeous floral arrangements for us. They complimented our style and our theme. The cake was from Brides in Bloom and was organised efficiently and professionally, leaving us with no stress or worries. They created the most delicious masterpiece!’ said Kristen. The music was provided by Above & Beyond DJ’s. “They played a great mix of songs that suited our style. We danced the night away” said Kristen.

A total of 3,390 Queensland brides provided 7,134 ratings on the 304 finalist’s product, service, value and staff, with the highest rating of the year going to David Berry (Marriage Celebrant) with a rating of 99.98%.

The Chairman of the Australian Bridal Industry Academy, Mr. John O’ Meara addressed the guests and congratulated all the finalists on their ability to design and deliver the brides dream of the perfect day. Congratulations to all winners & finalists and thank you to all the Queensland brides for making the 2011 Queensland ABIA Awards such an enjoyable success.

The guests enjoyed an evening of excitement and anticipation as finalists for each category were narrowed down to the top 10, top 5, and top 3 finally culminating in the announcement of each happy winner. The winners of each of the 37 categories were selected from a total of 2,391 brides who provided 5,106 opinions on the quality of 448 suppliers’ product, service, value and staff, culminating in 274 finalists and 39 winners of the prestigious ABIA. All of the winners and finalists are displayed in the ABIA directory.

This year we had a special Christmas theme for the Awards and invited our guests to Shine in Silver & Gold! Silver of course represents the Finalist Awards & Gold represents the Winners Awards. The room was decorated beautifully with Silver & Gold chair sashes courtesy of Events by Nadia and Sally from the Dockside Group delivered our Christmas fantasy tables with amazing candelabra and baubles in sparkling silver & glittering gold. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to get into the theme, you all looked beautiful.

The evening kicked off with a performance by The Hayley Sales Trio and then after a short welcome and introduction by Chairman John O’Meara the Awards were underway, presented by MC for the evening Peter Miller.

The competition this year was fierce with the closest Winners & Runners up being separated by only 00.01 in the some categories.

There were 41 categories and 400 finalists battling it out for this year’s ABIA, as determined by the over 7,700 bridal ratings.

After the Awards the guests danced the night away to party tunes provided by Theo from Maestro Entertainment. The team at Impact Av put on a sound and lighting show which dazzled the audience while the guys from Polite in Public provided the perfect backdrop for guests to capture the atmosphere of the evening in true celebrity style, with photos on the red carpet. A big congratulations to all winners & finalists of the 2010 NSW Annual Bridal Industry Awards.

To determine the nominees and finalists, the brides were asked to give scores out of 100 for the quality of product, quality of service, value for money and attitude of the staff of those suppliers who serviced the needs of the bride before, during and after her wedding day.

Less than 1% separated the runners up from the winners in 24 of the 34 Award categories, making the 2010 South Australian ABIA Awards the tightest contest in 10 years.

The tension, excitement and expectations could be felt throughout the magnificent Donato Reception Centre as the Top 20, Top 10, Top 5, Top 3 and finally the No 1 wedding supplier across the 34 wedding categories was announced.

The Chairman of the Academy Mr John O’ Meara congratulated all of the winners on their magnificent achievement and consoled those who missed out on the big win by such tight margins. Mr O’ Meara went on to say that all of the winners & finalists should be extremely proud of the work and dedication that each supplier put into delivering the brides dream of the perfect day.

“When planning our wedding the ABIA website was a good place to start as it provided us with a list of all the wedding suppliers in Australia who had been recognised and recommended by other newlyweds. It really helped us save time…which we did not have much of. It was also funny when we had chosen some suppliers like Studio Zanetti, Bizzaro and L’Bridal through friend’s recommendations only to find after booking that they were No 1 ABIA winners! It really made us feel confident that we had chosen people that were loved by others to join us on our special day” said Holly.

Holly & George’s Wedding Day: “Our wedding was an amazing journey. George and I are from two separate backgrounds. Lebanese and Scottish. Our dream was to bring two cultures together and our day to be a celebration of our lives” said Holly.

It was an amazing day with no major problems, only hotter than expected! Ten Harley’s escorted the bride and her bridal party to the ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral where Holly’s dad had surprised her with two bagpipes to walk her from the car to the church. “Our flower girls and pageboys did a wonderful job getting to the end of the very long aisle, said Holly. “They were very cute as they had practiced this for weeks!”

After the ceremony the newly married couple, headed to Hyde Park and Watson’s Bay Lighthouse with their bridal party of twelve for photos. “Michael our photographer was so fun to work with” said Holly. “We had a surprise entrance into Doltone House with two Bagpipes and three Lebanese drums together playing us in. Film clips throughout the night showed our journey from babies, to our life as a couple and finishing with our pre-wedding celebrations, a Lebanese custom (another excuse for a big party before the wedding)”. Doltone House provided an excellent atmosphere for the touching speeches, “the best man made us stand up and learn some Arabic and Scottish lines to assist us in our future together” said Holly. There was an emotional father and daughter dance to ‘you raise me up’ Westlife and after, “not a dry eye in the place… “said Holly. “My side of the family who didn’t quite make one full table had an absolute ball. We had lots of fun with our guests, kids and crew who really made our night. Everyone joined us with the excitement of the Lebanese music, drums and dancing.

It was great to see two very different families come together and just party!!!” “Bizzaro, L’Bridal, DnM Video, Studio Zanetti and Doltone House were all amazing to work with from the pre arrangements to the wedding day” said Holly.”They all really showed their love for the bridal industry, professional work, and they all went to extra lengths to ensure our day was so special”.
